RF/Microwave Receiver Simulator

We developed a RF/Microwave Receiver Simulator for one of our customers. The goal was to make the simulator match the requirements of an RF/Microwave system front end. The simulator covered frequencies from 10 MHz to 40 GHz, had very low noise figures, and very respectable dynamic range. The unit was delivered in 6 months after the order was received.

Features
  • Modular design: each band was built in a separate removable module for easy assembly and test
  • The simulator could be mounted in a 19 inch rack, or in a stand alone protected case as shown above
  • Each band could be switched on, to be connected to a signal generator, or the input could be terminated to allow the receiver system to sense the receiver noise without outside interference
  • Front panel lights to indicate proper functioning and the current state of the simulator
  • Built in internal power supplies for all internal components
  • All measurements were captured electronically using RFSpecTest, our computer automated test software program
